IT Capability Maturity Framework (IT‐CMF) состоит, как видно из названия, из модели способностей и модели зрелости. Зрелость определяется для каждого элемента карты способностей. Карта способностей состоит из 34 элементов, сгруппированных на верхнем уровне в четыре группы:
- Managing IT like a Business (means running IT like any other business, and that involves shifting the focus from technology and production to a focus on customers and services)
- Managing the IT budget (critical to delivering current and future value)
- Managing the IT Capability (what information technology and IT organizations can do collectively for a business)
- Managing for IT Business Value (involves tying IT investments to overall business benefits)
Одной из особенностей IT‐CMF является то, что определены не только уровни зрелости способностей, но и действия, необходимые для перехода с одного уровня на другой.
